My name is Alicia Thompson, I am the Indigenous Community Liaison Officer for Georgian College. I over see our 4 campus locations that have an Indigenous Resource Centre. (Barrie, Orillia, Midland, and Owen Sound) I am also an Alumni of our Indigenous Community and Social Development Program! I come from Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation on Mnidoo Mnis (Manitoulin Island)

I am ready and willing to assist you with any questions regarding Georgian College, our Indigenous Studies Programs or any of the other programs we offer through our 7 campus locations. Exciting News! We recently added a one-year certificate program (Maajii-Anishnaabemdaa – Start Speaking the Language) to our Indigenous Studies Department. The Maajii program as well as our 2-year language diploma program (Anishnaabemowin and Program Development) are also available “Dual Synchronus” Which means these programs can be taken from your home Community! (*delivered in live time)

Georgian College offers the ONLY 2-year accredited diploma program in the Ojibwe Language across Turtle Island! We have also created 4 Anishnaabemowin Worlds in Virtual Reality, a very innovative and immersive tool our faculty has added to their teaching bundles.
